47. Century-old gown carries on timeless tradition Family bond woven through wearing of christening dress
Just 12 weeks old, David is still relatively new to the world, unaware that he is the next in his family to carry on a tradition more than a century old. The white cotton gown has softened with age but still bears the intricate stitching of eyelets and embroidery and has changed only slightly since it s creation. For Stephanie, David s wearing of the cherished gown is special for a number of reasons, most importantly the ongoing tradition and the importance of family. To be certain the...

48. How your U.S. lawmaker voted
This bill would transfer final authority to the secret FISA court, which would issue warrants for spying on domestic targets based on probable cause of terrorism activity. The bill would require civilian and military interrogators to obey the Army Field Manual's ban on the torture of prisoners. By a vote of 53-45, the Senate on Friday failed to reach 60 votes needed to advance a House-passed bill (HR 4156, above) to appropriate an additional $50 billion for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan...

49. Avs win in shootout
The first and second periods were filled with ragged play, as referee Eugene Binda called a seemingly endless parade of penalties. Ryan Peterson gave Kenai the lead with a wrist shot from the left point that found its way through traffic toward the end of the first period. Kyle Pichler tied it for Alaska midway through the second period, cleaning up a rebound from...

50. Thomas Voting Reports
This bill transfers final authority to the secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, which would issue warrants for spying on domestic targets based on probable cause of terrorism activity. Bush called the bill undisciplined because it exceeded his budget request by $10 billion, while Democrats said it funded vital domestic programs that were shortchanged during Republican control of Congress. In his veto message, Bush said the bill "exceeds the reasonable and responsible levels for...

51. How are the injured players doing?
Both were reinstated, although Cotton, expected to be a first-team all-league selection this year, did not appear in either of the Titans' first two games. Horne can walk without a limp, but he missed four days of practice, so he's probably a little behind. We were hit with Scotty Wilson s injury early in the season last year with a few less players and we made the post season. While they looked good, stamina for a full season didn't look promising. I look for a so-so start to the season...
