Farmers, spurred by high wheat prices last fall, planted 3.5 million more acres of winter wheat than the previous season. That means the nation's farmers will likely harvest 358 million more wheat bushels this season, or about 2.17 billion bushels of wheat. WICHITA (AP) - Bolstered by expanded...

6. Pungent hike in chilli prices
While, surplus in wheat is music to the ears, the soaring prices of red chillies bring tears to the eyes. Increase in the wheat prices will definitely attract more people to become diet conscious. It might sound silly but wheat might have been this year s favourite amongst the farmers, he said. So many quick dishes can be prepared out of wheat and can also be preserved for a longer period than rice items. The consumer market has good news for health-conscious people and bad news for spice...
